Meet JJ Ali Who is J.J. Ali? Well, she is someone who knows the importance of family. As a mother of 3 boys, she understands how precious and sometimes fleeting those childhood days can be and nothing is more important than capturing those moments to be cherished forever. Even as a child herself, J.J. always had a camera in her hand. Seeing her images appear on paper in a tray filled with developer in the darkroom was absolute magic to her. As she matured, she began to take photography classes just for fun but quickly realized that she was hooked and wanted to pursue photography as a career. After graduating from The Western Academy of Photography she began working at the University of Manitoba as a Jr. Photographer in the Imaging Services Dept. That was where she was first introduced to Digital Imaging and began taking more courses on the new technology. In 1997 J.J. had her first child and decided it was time to work from home. She started out in her cozy little basement studio and now has expanded to a new beautiful studio space still close to home – in the backyard. Today, she continues to grow as a photographer. Always looking for new and exciting ways to create memorable images. She takes in classes and seminars whenever she can and is an active member of the Professional Photographers of Canada – MB. J.J. firmly believes in giving back to the community that has been so supportive of her and her photography. Every year she generously provides sponsorship to numerous charitable organizations. She also shares her love of photography with the students of Ecole Dieppe by providing leadership for their photography club. This group has published a book and a poster of their incredible images. Something she is extremely proud of!
